a2i is playing a role in establishing good governance
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak commented that Union Digital Center developed by a2i is playing a role in establishing good governance by reducing corruption and suffering in the digital transformation of services. He expressed optimism that these 'digital children' of the Prime Minister will lead the talent-based smart Bangladesh.
The state minister expressed such hope at a press conference for celebrating the 12th anniversary of a2i.
He said that a2i will play a leading role in building smart digital Bangladesh from digital Bangladesh by bringing sustainable innovative services at the doorstep to the hands of the peoples. Which will eliminate the discrimination between city and rural areas, rich and poor and women or men. To attain the goal, instead of short term or one day training, this organization needs to train people for six months to create smart entrepreneurs in the blended method.
At this time, he highlighted the plan of giving 20,000 taka seed money to women entrepreneurs from the information and communication technology department after 5 months training.
In a press conference of the Union Information Digital Center held at the ICT Tower on Friday with stakeholders including digital service providers and recipients, union chairman, government officials, media workers and leaders of the ICT sector, the state minister also said that UDC has reached digital services from inline to online, from villages to cities and from the country to abroad. Joining the press conference from New York, a2i policy advisor Anir Chowdhury said that digital centers will be established for meeting the interest of both the villagers and expatriates to mark the 12th anniversary of a2i for cottages and small entrepreneurs will be established in all Upazilas and foreign lands. The Digital Center concept of Bangladesh will be exported to 50 countries of 170 UN member countries within the next three years. Besides, 79 lakh small and cottage entrepreneurs of the country will be brought under DBN.

E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) President Shomi Kaiser said at the event that women entrepreneurs are dropping out at the grassroots for various reasons, "I am calling for special programs to retain women entrepreneurs for a long time."
The a2i Project Director Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir cut the anniversary cake with the invited guests. He said that there are currently 8 thousand 805 digital centers in different parts of the country and abroad; the number of digital centers abroad is 15. Humayun Kabir said, "These centers have more than 16 thousand entrepreneurs. Serving an average of over 70 lakhs per month. The list of services includes more than three hundred public and private services altogether.”
The 'a2i' program is being implemented under the Cabinet Division and Information and Communication Technology Division with the support of UNDP. The government has already approved the draft law to transform a2i into an autonomous body.
